Shrubs
Hydrangeas like evenly moist soil conditions and shade during the hot afternoon sun. Some varieties change bloom color depending on the pH of the soil. Blue in acid, pink in alkaline. Most varieties grow 3-5' tall and wide. Some varieties may be smaller, like City Paris Lights, at 12-24" tall.
Oakleaf type hydrangeas can handle drier soil conditions than its cousin, the Mophead large-leaf hydrangea. The blooms are in a long panicle form and change from white to rosy pink with age. Plant in full sun to partial shade.
A fast growing, deciduous shrub. Grows 10-15' tall if left untrimmed, but most gardeners trim it as a low growing hedge or privacy screen. Plant in full sun to partial shade.

Boxwood are evergreen shrubs with petite leaves that are relatively easy to care for and trim. Use for hedging or as individual specimen plantings. Several varieties are a rounded shrub form, but there are upright varieties such as Green Mountain. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Appreciates shade in the afternoons when the sun can be extremely hot. Plant in areas that are protected from strong winter winds. Keep soil evenly moist for best performance.
Glossy, dark green evergree
Blue-green evergreen foliage forms a nice pyramidal shape with little to no pruning. Will mature to a height of 12 feet, but can be trimmed to a shorter height. Makes an excellent hedge or windbreak. Plant in full sun.
Evergreen shrub with a dense, rounded growth habit with a dip in the center of a flat top, giving it the common name of Bird's Nest Spruce. Slow growing shrub will reach a mature size of 3-4' tall and 6-8' wide. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Struggles in full shade, so avoid planting in very shady conditions. Prune in late winter to early spring to maintain a desired shape and size.
Common needled evergreen shrub. Taxus Hicksii is an upright growing taxus, good for a columnar feature or tall privacy hedge. Prefers full sun to partial shade, but tolerates shady conditions. Mature size is 12-20' tall and 8-12' wide, but taxus is easily trimmed to maintain shorter sizes.
Naturally rounded shrub with lacy, evergreen foliage. Reaches just 30-36" tall and wide at maturity. Minimal to no pruning necessary. Excellent for foundation plantings in the landscape. Plant in full sun and keep well watered in extreme heat and drought situations.

Trees
Japanese maples are known for their delicate foliage and small stature. Some have solid palmate leaves while others are delicate laceleaf varieties. Colors range from red, red-orange, red-purple, yellow and green. Check information tag for each specific variety, but they range from 6-8' tall up to 20-25'. Plant in full sun to partial shade with protection from strong winds, especially for the laceleaf varieties.
Crimson King is a Norway Maple with rich maroon to purple tinted leaves throughout late spring and summer. Mature trees reach 30-40 foot tall and 20-40 foot wide.

Signature purple-pink flowers in spring followed by heart-shaped leaves. Some varieties may have a weeping habit like Lavender Twist and will only reach 8-10' tall, while others have a more open spreading form and reach 20-25' tall. Plant in full sun, but tolerates shade too.
Kousa Dogwoods are small trees that bloom after trees have leafed out with either pink, white or reddish blooms. Cornus florida are varieties that flower before the foliage appears. Also available in pink, white or red blooms. Trees reach an average height of 18-25' tall. Full sun to partial shade locations.
Neat fan-shaped leaves turn a brilliant yellow in fall. Excellent as a feature specimen tree in the landscape. Relatively slow growing.
Long showy panicles of yellow blooms grace this tree in spring. Reaches 25-40' tall. Excellent shade tree or feature specimen tree.

Crabapples reach 15-20' average height, but some are grafted to only reach 6-8', like the Lollipop Crabapple. Check plant tags for specific details. Blooms white to dark pink in late spring. Small crabapples may develop by fall depending on variety. Plant in full sun or at least provide 6 hours of sun per day.
